Imbri Web Reseller FAQ
What happens if the server goes down?
| Firstly, our reseller servers have never had downtime exceeding four hours, and any downtime at all is rare. However if a server is confirmed to be down for any reason, we go through the following emergency procedures:
If there is a major hardware problem we will remove the two hard-drives from the server, place them in a new server and register the new server with the network. This means that we will be back online in less than an hour from initiating this procedure. It may, however, take a couple of hours of intermittent downtime to figure out what the problem is and whether it requires these measures.
Another situation, for example, would be a failure of the primary hard drive, obviously a major problem. In this situation a new hard-drive is imaged, mounted in the server and backups from the second hard-drive (taken every 24 hours) are restored. This can be a slow process and could take up to four hours for every account to be transfer. Accounts will come back online as they are transferred. Major software problems can also be solved by this second procedure.
