Custom Nameservers
If you have chosen to use custom/personalised nameservers you will need to order them from us, at $4.00 per month, and let us know what you would like them to be. Usually this is NS1.YOURDOMAIN.COM and NS2.YOURDOMAIN.COM.
After you have ordered the nameservers and we have created them for you on the server, you will need to register them with your domain registrar. There should be no cost to do this and it is usually an automated process, but requires 24-72 hours for propagation, as with all domain changes.
In your welcome email (the email you receive when you sign up for a reseller account) you will receive information similar to the following:
Anonymous Nameservers for all domains hosted on your Reseller account
Primary Server Hostname: NS1-SERVERNAME.SERVER.COM
IP address: 123.123.123.123
Secondary Server Hostname: NS2-SERVERNAME.SERVER.COM
IP address: 234.234.234.234
The IP addresses of these anonymous nameservers are the same ones you should use when registering your personal nameservers. You will need to go to the registrar at which you registered the domain. In this example we will be using GoDaddy.
Log into your account and go to the management area for your domain. Find a link that will allow you to create/register nameservers, DNS, domain hosts, or something similar. In GoDaddy, expand the "Domain Host Summary" section.
Click to add/modify your domain hosts. Make sure there are fields for two nameservers (in GoDaddy click "Add New Host"). Enter in the host names (NS1 and NS2) and their respective IP addresses as given in your email.
When your IP addresses are correctly typed in, click on "Save Changes." That's it! Now all you need to do is wait 24 to 72 hours for the new nameservers to propagate.
