Tutorial: FTP with CuteFTP
Using CuteFTP
| When you've launched and connected CuteFTP, you will be looking at the navigation console just like the one below. The top pane is where you can see the commands and errors for your session, the middle two panes are the navigation for the place you are FTPing into. The bottom pane shows your current activity.

Uploading
To upload files from your computer to your account, set up your console like the example above. In the left window pane, browse to the directory you wish to upload from. In the right pane, browse to the /web directory, which is where you'll be uploading to.
Select the file you wish to upload and:
- Click on the "Upload" button on the taskbar, or
- Right-click on the file and select "Upload" from the pop-up menu, or
- Just click and drag the file from pane to pane.
Downloading
To download files from your account to your computer, set up your console like in the previous example.
Select the file you wish to download and:
- Click on the "Download" button on the taskbar, or
- Right-click on the file and select "Download" from the pop-up menu, or
- Just click and drag the file from pane to pane.
Subdirectories
To create subdirectories within your web directory on your account:
- Click on the "Make new directory" button on the taskbar, or
- Right-click in that directory and select "Make new directory".
That's all there is to it! If you have any errors, they will be displayed in the pane at the top. |
